Dr. Abbott-Cambridge, aka Dr. Mel, grew up in Brampton and returned to begin practice with her dad, Dr. David Abbott. She graduated from Brock University with a degree in Community Health Science, and continued her education at Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College graduating with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree. Like her father she has a passion for sports and specifically rowing. While at Brock University she rowed with the Varsity team and continued on to compete for the Canadian National Rowing team. Following graduation from Chiropractic College she gave back to the rowing community through lecturing on low back health in rowing for Brock University and Ontario team athletes. Dr. Abbott-Cambridge’s clinical focus is on pediatric and Pre and post natal care. Her passion for pediatrics grew out of her love for caring for children. A young patient she saw with a neurological complaint early in her career encouraged her to see more knowledge in the area of pediatrics to best help her young patients. She completed training at Boston’s Childrens Hospital in Brazelton’s Neonatal behavioural Assessment (NBAS) for the most accurate assessment of babies under 6 weeks of age. She then went on to complete a Masters degree in Pediatric Musculoskeletal Health from AECC University in Bournemouth, UK. She is also certified in Medical Acupuncture from MacMaster University. Dr. Abbott-Cambridge also enjoys educating both patients of health care providers. She hosts clinical placements form a number of Universities and Colleges and Chiropractic interns from Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College as well as D’Youville Chiropractic college. Further she worked at Logan University in St. Louis Missouri to develop the curriculum for an Evidence-Informed practice course as part of a new Masters of pediatric degree. Dr. Abbott-Cambridge is now adjunct faculty at Logan University teaching Evidence-Informed Pediatric Practice.
